Our Story
When I was five years old, my family moved from South Africa to the United States. My grandfather stayed behind in Johannesburg — nearly 8,000 miles away from our new home.
From the day I was born, he never once called me by my name. I was always his lovebird.
The distance never really existed for us. There were long phone calls, FaceTime conversations that stretched past bedtime, and his visits to the States with my grandmother — trips I counted down to every time. However far apart we lived, he was one of the closest people in my life.
He passed away in 2013, but the name he gave me stayed.
When I began making jewelry, there was never any question what the business would be called. Every pair of earrings I make by hand carries a little of what he gave me — the reminder that small, carefully made things can hold an enormous amount of love, and that distance is no match for it.
